Anxiety Counselling in Whitstable & Online

When your mind won’t switch off, even when you want it to.

Anxiety can show up in many different ways. You might find yourself overthinking everything, worrying about what might happen, replaying conversations or feeling constantly on edge.

Sometimes you know exactly what you’re anxious about. Other times, you may just have that uncomfortable feeling that something isn’t quite right.

Counselling gives you a space to slow things down, understand what may be behind your anxiety and begin finding ways to manage it that work for you.

How Anxiety Can Show Up

Anxiety isn't always obvious. Sometimes you may not even think of yourself as an anxious person.

You might notice:

  • Constant overthinking or worrying

  • Replaying conversations in your head

  • Always expecting something to go wrong

  • Struggling to switch off or relax

  • Feeling tense, restless or on edge

  • Avoiding situations because they feel overwhelming

  • Needing reassurance from other people

  • Difficulty sleeping because your mind is racing

  • Physical feelings such as a racing heart, tight chest or butterflies

  • Feeling exhausted from constantly thinking

You may look as though you're coping perfectly well on the outside while feeling completely overwhelmed underneath.

Counselling can help you begin to understand these patterns rather than simply trying to push the anxiety away.

How Counselling Can Help with Anxiety

Counselling isn't about simply telling you to stop worrying or think positively.

Together, we can explore what may be underneath your anxiety, recognise the thoughts and patterns that keep it going and understand how it affects your feelings, body and behaviour.

We can also look at practical ways to manage overwhelming thoughts and feelings, helping you feel more able to cope when anxiety shows up.

I work at your pace. You won't be pushed to talk about anything before you feel ready.

The aim isn't to never feel anxious again. It's to help anxiety feel less in control of your life.

What Happens in Anxiety Counselling?

Your first session is a chance for us to begin understanding what has been happening for you and how anxiety is affecting your everyday life.

You don't need to arrive knowing exactly where your anxiety comes from or what you want to change. We can work that out together.

We might explore situations that trigger your anxiety, the thoughts that appear, how your body responds and the things you do to try to cope.

As we begin to understand these patterns, we can work together to find ways of responding differently.

There's no pressure to have everything figured out. We start wherever you are.
